FAQs for Our Youth Workshops
Do I need a camera?
No. We supply DSLR Nikon cameras.
Can I bring my own camera?
Yes. If you know how to use it.
For virtual class, can I just use my phone?
Yes. You can take photos on whatever you want for virtual classes.
What do we eat every day during summer class?
If you are a picky eater bring a lunch or snack just in case. BUT we go to a variety of places to get food ranging from pizza shops, market stalls, Sullivan's at Castle Island and Roy's Cold Cuts in Eastie.
How much money do I need for lunch?
Well...how much do you like to eat? I find students tend spend as little or as much as they have so I suggest putting yourself on a $10 a day budget and even consider bringing lunch 1 or 2 days to save money.
Where do I go in the morning for class?
Teachers pick up students at our meeting spot at the soldier's monument, 1 South Street, OUTSIDE in Jamaica Plain at 9am. Teachers drop off kids there too at 3pm.
What do we do all day?
We either head to a shooting field trip or to the teaching space for lessons and editing.
How far away in the teaching space from the monument?
The home teaching space is 2 miles away in Roxbury. We offer the pick up and drop of because we have found it EASIER for families to meet there (especially those coming from Brookline, Roslindale, Newton etc.).
Can I use my phone during class?
Not unless it is to call parents. On occasion staff will let you share things from your phone if it is part of engaging with others.
Do I need anything for summer class?
You just need lunch or lunch money and a flash drive on Friday to collect your edited images. We do suggest a water bottle if you tend to get thirsty. And if we go to a beach or sprinklers, you will be informed to bring a bathing suit if you want to swim or get wet.
POLICIES
• You will get a refund if your space can be filled.
• Only phone use with permission and if it involves planning with parents or engaging with other students.
• You must stay in sight of the lead teacher at all times on field trips unless permission is given to use a restroom for example.
